A-Team Honors - Dawgs Ranked #2 Nationally
The Truman State Bulldogs begin their semester at the top of the Great Plains Division 2 Standings, and near the top of the national poll. The IRC ranked the A-Team number 2 in the nation, trailing only Neumann College, who has held the top spot since the beginning of the season.
Also mentioned by IRC were Junior forward Drew Vandas and Junior goalie John Pecher, who were both named to the first team of their Midseason All-American squad. Vandas currently sits at the top of Great Plains scorers in goals and points. Pecher is near the top of the region in almost every statistical category.

A-TEAM GRABS #1 SEED IN GREAT PLAINS, #2 IN THE NATION
On February 3rd the Bulldogs looked to upset the University of Missouri - St. Louis Rivermen for the first time in over four years. Although falling behind early, Junior Dane Moody would tie the game just under ninety seconds later, and a second with less that two minutes to go in the first. Despite a game tying goal by UMSL, the Bulldogs pulled ahead with a goal by Sophomore phenom Drew Vandas, and never looked back. Moody would add another to complete a hat trick as Truman battled to a 4-3 victory. In doing so the Bulldogs were just one point shy of UMSL in the standings, but with a game in hand. Victories over St. Louis University, Southeast Missouri State, and Missouri state followed that same weekend.
A four game sweep of SIU-Carbondale, Western Illinois, Kansas State, and Western Kentucky added to the Bulldogs winning streak, bringing it to 16 games. On the weekend, Sophomore goalie John Pecher notched three shutouts as Truman outscored their opponents by a total score of 40-1.
With one game left in the season against Washington University, the Bulldogs are 16-1 and are ranked #2 in the nation. The final game will be on the 3rd of March, with the regional tournament to follow on the 4th.

BULLDOGS WINLESS IN WIXOM BUT STILL CONFIDENT
Over the winter break, while the season took a two month hiatus, the Bulldogs traveled to Wixom, Michigan to partake in the Winter Invitational. The team traveled over 500 miles to compete against the Nation's top Division I teams, and went up there one defenseman short (defenseman Jake Dunahue did not make the trip). In addition to the long travel Truman drew a very tough round robin pool, drawing Michigan State, Drexel, and Western Michigan.
The small Midwest school was unknown to many teams participating and was expected to get destroyed by the Michigan schools. The Bulldogs quickly made a name for themselves, raising a few eyebrows by proving they could skate with the Northern "Hockey" schools. (Read more)
